I made this piece with a clear agenda: improve my painting technique.

I found an amazing miniature oil painter on YouTube, James Wappel, who actually paints figures close to my size, and his videos are full-length! So my idea was to copy his sculpture as best as I could and try to follow along with the video, or at least have as much reference material as I could for my own progression. (Amazing videos, thanks for those!)

It didn't turn out exactly as I wanted - it ended up much more faded than the reference - but it was a really fun experience. Reference video
